Why the buyer needs a UK company

The VAT

Since Brexit a UK used car carries UK VAT that a private buyer in Ireland cannot get back. A UK VAT-registered buyer can, whether the car is VAT-qualifying or sold under the margin scheme. That buyer is us, and the saving goes into the landed price.

The customs

Every car crossing to Ireland needs a customs declaration, a duty decision and the right paperwork at the port. A UK-built car can go duty free when its origin is shown; we check the position for each car and lodge the declaration through our agent.

The dealer

Most UK dealers will not sell to an overseas buyer, or will not release the V5C. They will sell to a UK limited company at a UK address that pays in full by bank transfer. That is what they get from us.
